05/2010 proSTO project to be presented at the 6th European Conference on Sustainable Cities and Towns, 19-21 May 2010, Dunkerque

The Dunkerque 2010 conference will explore how local sustainability can meet the current economic, social and climate challenges and its implementation at the European level under the actual financial and political frameworks.

More than 1.500 local government leaders from all over Europe as well as representatives from European and national networks of local governments, European institutions and NGOs are expected to take part in the largest European conference dedicated to local sustainable development.
 
The proSTO project will be presented within the framework of the ”Agora” ,on Thursday 20 May, 11.00—11.30 More details about the Agora programme

04/2010 proSTO Workshop: “Solar thermal ordinances: making a commitment to local sustainable energy”
proSTO Workshop, 15 April 2010, 13.30-16.30, Congress Center/International Expo Center, Sofia (Bulgaria)
 
This Workshop aims at presenting the legislative framework conditions and the process for developing and implementing a STO at local level. It will also provide concrete examples from local authorities which have already set up solar thermal ordinances, including flanking measures (incentive schemes, information campaigns, etc.). For more information, please click here

04/2009 New Renewable Energy Directive foresees Renewable Heat Ordinances

In December 2008, the European Parliament and Council agreed on a Renewable Energy Directive. Among others the Directive foresees that Member States require by 2015 in their building regulations and codes the use of minimum levels of energy from renewable sources for heating and cooling. The ProSTO project came just at the right time. It will provide a lot of the answers local, regional and national governments need, when designing successful and efficient renewables obligations. The various tools range from text proposals for the ordinance over background reports and best practice examples to software tools for mapping the potential of solar thermal in your community. New tools have been developed and already available instruments have been compiled by the ProSTO project partners.
