Shondoni - Mining Atlas
The Shondoni Mine is Sasol Minings third coal replacement project for its Middelbult operation near Secunda. It is a continuation of the Middelbult mine which will be extended underground, with the main shaft and incline shaft being replaced by the Shondoni shaft. First coal from the new complex is expected to be delivered in 2015.

Jul 06, 2018 · Sasol has inaugurated its new Shondoni colliery in Mpumalanga as part of its R14 billion mine replacement programme. Meaning “a place of wealth”, Shondoni replaces Sasol Mining’s Middelbult Colliery, which has reached the end of its lifespan.
Sasol Secunda & Sasolburg Underground Mining Operations
The Impumelelo mine, which will replace the Brandspruit operation, is set for first production in 2015. It will be ramped up to produce 8.5MTPA, and can later be upgraded to supplying some 10.5 MTPA. This coal will be used exclusively by the Sasol Synfuels plant.
