Superfuel: Thorium, the Green Energy Source for the Future ...
Superfuel: Thorium, the Green Energy Source for the Future explores the history of the 90th element on the periodic table. The author provides a powerful case for using thorium as a superfuel. It was amazing to read about how many times this resource has been overlooked by scientists and others seeking sources of fuel.

Thorium fuel cycle — Potential benefits and challenges
International Forum (GIF), are also considering thorium fuels and fuel cycles. Thorium fuels and fuel cycles have the following benefits and challenges: Benefits • Thorium is 3 to 4 times more abundant than uranium, widely distributed in nature as an easily exploitable resource in many countries and has not been exploited commercially so far.

Thorium fuel cycle - Wikipedia
either fissions in situ or is chemically separated from the used nuclear fuel and formed into new nuclear fuel. The thorium fuel cycle has several potential advantages over a uranium fuel cycle, including thoriums greater abundance, superior physical and nuclear properties, reduced plutonium and actinide production, and better resistance to nuclear weapons proliferation when used in a traditional light …

Yes Vermont Yankee: Superfuel: A Book I Wanted to Love
Jun 21, 2012 · I bought the book but have been unable to finish it. For me the somewhat snarky tone is a big turnoff. When I encountered "nuclearati" the first time I had to bookmark the page and take a walk. Im a fan of the LFTR concept and would like to see development of the thorium fuel cycle. I hoped this book would cover the engineering challenges.

Thorium is a byproduct of rare earth mining and is virtually free. No rare earths, no windmills inter alia folks. Thorium if used as a nuclear fuel in a reactor has advantages that could make uranium reactors obsolete. We already built a thorium reactor in the US and it worked. Wind, solar etc. will never produce enough base load electricity

SuperFuel: Thorium, the Green Energy Source for the Future ...
Because of its unusually long decay process and its rare ability to breed through neutron capture, thorium is a more energy dense and efficient source of energy than uranium or plutonium: As a nuclear fuel, thorium reserves carry enough energy to power humanitys machines for …

Thorium-based nuclear power - Wikipedia
Thorium-based nuclear power generation is fueled primarily by the nuclear fission of the isotope uranium-233 produced from the fertile element thorium.According to proponents, a thorium fuel cycle offers several potential advantages over a uranium fuel cycle—including much greater abundance of thorium on Earth, superior physical and nuclear fuel properties, and reduced nuclear waste production.
